  
Land Seaweed is one of Salsola family species. This variety, called Okahijiki in Japan, is a salt marsh plant adapted to grow in soil or water with high level of salt. This unique plant grow matchstick leaves and tips that are harvested for vegetable uses. Young leaves are sold as one of the gourment vegetalbes in the markets, which are used in sushi, salad and many Japanese food. Plants grow vigorously in warm climates and can be grown in containers too. An interesting plant for home gardening.
